Students and Faculties from Jadavpur University participated in the VLSI Design Conference 2024

It is a huge opportunity for the students of Jadavpur University that they are getting the chance to attend the 37^th International Conference on VLSI Design – VLSID 2024

 

Tutorial sessions - ENHANCED THE LEARNING OF THE STUDENTS

The sessions which were attended by students

 

We have attended the lectures of Pala 2 for the first session

It was based on the Digital Design and Verification objectives, particles and advanced trends.

It was very much helpful for our Digital VLSI Club. Because the students who are new to this club they must have enhanced their knowledge by the lectures.

à Learned about the Digital Circuits, ALU, FSM and also the designing part.

à In the Pala 2 we have learned about the Circuit verification objectives.

We have attended the lectures of Pala 4  for the second session

It was based on Digital and Analog mixed signal ASIC Design flow with SCL 180 nm pdk.

àWe have enhanced our knowledge about the Digital and Analog mixed signal and also about the ASIC Design flow in this lecture series.

àWe have gained our knowledge about the FPGA and also the future scopes on that.

It was based on Security of emergent Autonomous Vehicles :from sensors to systems.

We have attended the lectures of Pala 2  for the second session

It was based on Digital methods and tools for future generation computer architectures

 

Networking

1. Discussion with Dr. Sankalp Singh , SARA initiatives Synopsys for extension of synopsys license and proposal of JU as training HUB
2. Discussion with Indranil Hatai, Mathwork for his support of Matlab to RTL design. He also closely associated with past SMDP projects from IIT Kgp
3. Discussed with Scientists of Tagore tech for their support on Power amplifier design.
4. Discussion and possible work plan subsequent to MoU with HCL.
5. Discussion with Puja Chakraborty, DXCorr for her training support on MRAM design towards JU students
6. Discussion with Prof. Amlan Chakraborty for three domain of research , a) Risc V, b) Quantum controller , c) 5G test bed
7. Discussions with AMD for university program support.
8. Collaboration possibilities with Dr. Ansuman Banerjee ISI, Kolkata
9. Collaboration possibilities with Biswajit Patra,  Krutim , Ex Intel for joint PhD

 

Interaction with the HRs :-

 

• Synopsys Stall-

• Sankalp Singh was present on that day. We talked about the Synopsys sponsored laboratory at the Jadavpur University.
• They said to make a blog that will contain the VLSID conference and also the purpose of the digital vlsi club in this conference.
• They said that they want that the students of the digital vlsi club who have attended the Synopsys workshop will be categorized as a group of team they will go to the different institutes and teach the use of Synopsys tool.
• They have said to utilize the Synopsys tool.
• As an initiative Prof. Sayan Chatterjee, has included the Synopsys tool as a part of the Winter training organized by the IC Center of Excellence.
• Also the members of the digital VLSI club will organize a session based on the System Verilog on the 20^th January 2024.
• They gave a diary as goodie.

• Western Digital Stall -

• Ashok G sir, the HR of Western Digital and the Rohan Shirat, the Director of Western Digital were present in the stall.
• We visited the stall and got to know several things which WD made by themselves.
• They offered a quiz after that they gave mouse pad, flyer, pen and if we could complete the quiz they were giving t shirt as goodies.
• They have shown some devices which are very much faster.

• Western Digital Lucky draw winner :-

• Ansys Stall-

• We visited their stall and they have shown their booklets.
• They have shown that works on 3D Design, Electronics, Embedded Software, Fluids, Materials, Optics and VR, Digital Twin, Photonics, Platform, Semi-conductors, Structure, Digital mission engineering, Acoustic simulations, Safety analysis simulation and additives.
• They have the eligibility criteria:-

To be eligible, your startup company must :

• Be a privately held company
• Be less than 10 years old a company
• Have less than USD $5 million in annual revenue.
• Not be an engineering consulting or simulation services company.

 

• They have held the quiz contest :-

They held a quiz contest based on basic electronics. Some of us participated in it and got some goodies. They have given cups as a token of appreciation.

• Tech Mahindra Stall-

For Tech Mahindra we went to the stall and they have said that they gives us the opportunity for the internship. They gave us the QR code for applying. We filled the form and after that they gave us the email id where to send our resume.

 

After that they gave a diary and a pen along with a key ring as tokens of appreciation.

 

• Mirafa Technology Stall-

Mirafa Technology works on the RTL, Post silicon Validation, Digital Domain, System Verilog and also in analog domain.

 

For opportunities we asked for –

They said that currently they are not hiring fresher’s. They are only taking the experienced candidates.

 

• Marvell Stall-

 

We went to the Marvell stall. It was very much disappointing that they did not even know that Jadavpur University comes under Tier 1 college. After that we introduced ourselves. Then they said that for now they are not offering any opportunities for us as fresher’s. They have said that we can though send our resumes to them. After that they offered us a quiz. We attempted that quiz after that they gave a lucky draw winner prize to two of our members of Digital VLSI club.

• Microchip Technology Stall-

Microchip Technology works on Analog and Mixed Signal technologies.

For microchip technology they will give internship opportunity to the students.

For the placement season if training and placement cell contact them they may hire students.

• Mathworks Stall-

Mathworks stall said that they have talked with Prof. Sayan Chatterjee sir that how the matlab code will be transferred as HDL code.

We have also talked with Indranil Hatai sir about the work culture of Mathworks.

 

• Kaynes Semicon Pvt. Ltd. Stall-

We went to the Kaynes Semicon stall they have said that they work culture as it is end to end and IoT solutions enabled integrated electronics manufacturer. It also provides conceptual design and process engineering. As per now they will provide internship opportunity and the full time will be based on their requirements.

 

• Tagore Technology Stall-

As the first note the director of this company is the alumni of Jadavpur University.

This company works on only analog domain. This company is based on analog electronics and RF IC design.

This company will give internship opportunity and also this company will provide full time opportunity. This company is located in Kolkata. Also it will hire a large number of students from the campus. During the placement season if the training and placement cell will ask them they will come to the campus.

 

•  Moschip Stall-

• AMD Stall-

In AMD stall we went and they have shown what they have done. Two of them were students from Korea they showed their project work based on the FPGA and also some of them were from Coreel they were saying that how they collaborate with AMD.

 

• Tessolve Semiconductor Stall-

Tessolve Semiconductor said that they hire for interns and they will convert them as full time employee. They work on Digital design as well as asic designer engineers. Technological innovation has accelerated at an unprecedented pace in recent years, and so have the disruptions in the sector of Silicon engineering – complex IC development, increasing failures, and inadequate facilities for design, development, and testing. At Tessolve, we address these disruptions by partnering with OEMs and semiconductor companies for end-to-end innovation and productization of silicon and systems solutions. They said to fill the form given by the QR code. We filled the form for letting them know about our area of interest.

 

• Mirabilis Design Stall-

Mirabilis Design is based on the Kerala. They only hire from Bangalore and Hyderabad. They said they hire interns but not from Kolkata. They gave their cards and said to send resumes to them.

 

• Silicon Labs Stall-

Silicon Laboratories, Inc. (Silicon Labs) is a fabless global technology company that designs and manufactures semiconductors, other silicon devices and software, which it sells to electronics design engineers and manufacturers in Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure worldwide.

It is headquartered in Austin, Texas, United States. The company focuses on microcontrollers (MCUs) and wireless system on chips (SoCs) and modules. The company also produces software stacks including firmware libraries and protocol-based software, and a free software development platform called Simplicity Studio.

 

• C-DAC Stall-

We saw that apart from the Aries Vega 2.0 and Aries Vega 3.0 they have also launched another boards which are really new to the market . We watched them. If anyone wants to buy those boards they can contact to them.

 

• Keysight Stall-

They basically produced an oscilloscope and they showed it’s working principal. For now, they are not open for hiring purpose.

 

• Cadence Stall-

This is the company which works on analog domain.
